1. I guess a driver would basically be a must have. A good utility iron is also in that catagory.
2. I would have to say a driver fits this question also.
3. The most common grip I see is hand over thumb with the wrist forward.
4. I guess you are talking about teeing off. It is called that because that is what you will usually be after you hit the ball.:)

1. Putter

Putting is everything (besides mental game), a player who has a bad day usually has a bad putting day.

2. Driver

It has the largest head and is the longest club in the bag. It has the lowest loft/degrees (actually, second lowest. putter has about 2-3 degrees of loft).

3. Three most common: interlock, baseball, overlap

I used interlock when I first started but now it’s just uncomfortable. I tried to use baseball because for some reason I imagined I could hit the ball farther. But 90% of my golfing experience is with the overlap grip.

4. Set-up

Very important for alignment and consistency. Work on a pre-shot routine also (this is a must).

1. Well, there is no essential club in golf. You can use any club at any time. Going to the extreme examples: you could use a pitching wedge on the green and you can use a putter for teeing off. You can use any club anywhere any time.

2. The 1 driver is use for the longest shots and is the most powerful.

3. Most people use the interlock grip, but I don’t use it because I find it slightly uncomfortable.

4. That’s Addressing the Ball.

1) Putter - It’s hard to putt with any other clubs.

2) Driver - Used for long shots from the tee.

3) Vardon Grip (or overlapping) see here:

4) This is known as addressing the ball

Good luck!

1. Putter because you can reach a par 3 in 1, but then 3 putt, now what good is that?

2. Driver, but it can also be arguably the most important because a good drive puts one in both a good position to hit a great shot, and a great state of mind when charging down the fairway.

3. The Vardon Grip is very popular, i.e. Tiger Woods, but it all depends on the person.

4. The Setup/Alignment, which are very crucial seeing as your body is the only thing connected you and the ground.
